IGBC Green Homes – One day Advance Training Programme

The housing sector in India is growing at a rapid pace and contributing immensely to the growth of the economy. It is estimated that by the year 2020, India will have over 50-60 billion sq.ft of building construction, of which majority will be residential units. This augurs well for the country and now there is an imminent need to introduce green concepts and techniques in this sector, which can aid growth in a sustainable manner.

Green concepts and techniques in the residential sector can help address national issues like water efficiency, energy efficiency, fossil fuel reduction in commuting, handling of consumer waste and conserving natural resources. Most importantly, these concepts can enhance occupant health, happiness and well-being.

Buildings present great opportunities for energy efficiency. Over the last 10 years we clearly see a paradigm shift in the way energy efficiency is addressed, thanks to the green building movement, pioneered by CII and IGBC. There are buildings today which consume less than 100 Kwh /sq.m/ year. This can be good bench mark though we also have Net zero energy buildings.

CII-Indian Green Building Councils (IGBC) Green Homes rating system was launched in 2008 and was well received by all stakeholders. This Rating System have been successfully applied in India in as many as 1,050+ Green Home Projects, till date with a footprint of 950+ Million sq.ft which is equivalent to over 7,00,000 dwelling units going green in different parts of country. Government, builders & developers, individuals in India have taken lead in constructing Green Homes. With the growing demand for Green Homes, there is a need to enhance the knowledge of building professionals on Green Homes concepts & equip them on the Green Homes Rating System.

Against this backdrop, CII-Godrej GBC is organising an exclusive One day Advanced Training Programme on Green Homes Rating System (Version 2) on 25 July 2014 at Pune.
