Conference on Green Existing Buildings : New Delhi

While the environmental performance of new commercial buildings in India has been improving dramatically in recent years, most existing buildings were constructed when energy was less expensive, technologies were less advanced, and environmental performance rarely a priority existing buildings generally use significantly more energy and water than new buildings of the same size and function.

Existing buildings comprise the largest segment of the built environment, it is important to initiate energy & water conservation retrofits to reduce consumption and the cost of operation. Today we have about 30 Billion sq.ft of buildings which is expected to grow to 100 Billion sq.ft by 2030 and there lies a huge opportunity to convert them into Green by effective operations and maintenance.

IGBC Green Existing Buildings - O & M Rating

IGBC EB O&M rating is the first rating system of its kind in India to address sustainability in Existing Buildings, viz. Government buildings, corporate offices, admin blocks, educational institutions, airports, hotels, hospitals, etc.

The overarching objective of this rating is to facilitate building owners & facility managers in implementation of Green strategies, measure their impacts and sustain the performance in the long run. The thrust is on implementation and results achieved.

Against this background, the IGBC which is a part of CII is organizing a two day conference on Green Existing Buildings on 19 & 20 March, 2014 at Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The conference on Green Existing Buildings will facilitate buildings owners and facility managers to implement green features in their buildings and thus enhance their operations and savings.
