' INDIA'S ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT
The Ecological Footprint measures human demand on the biosphere in terms of the land and sea area required to provide the resources we use and to absorb the waste we generate. This includes all the cropland, grazing land, forest and fishing grounds used to produce food, fibre and timber, to absorb the carbon emitted in burning fossil fuels, and to provide space for infrastructure.
