Over 150 India's energy efficient companies to share their strategies, best practices on energy
management at
CII's National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2016
CII in its efforts to further encourage Indian industry adopt and promote energy management practices in their operations has been organising the annual National Award for Excellence in Energy Management. As part of this initiative, the 17th edition today got underway as part of Energy Efficiency Summit 2016 in Hyderabad.

Over 150 India's energy efficient companies covering sectors including- Pharma, chemical & fertilizers, power, metal, buildings, cement, auto & engineering would be sharing their success stories/ best practices on energy management before a panel of eminent judges. This annual event provides an excellent platform to share and learn best practices on energy management and in the process facilitate in further accelerating the energy conservation movement in the country.

Mr Arvind Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary (FAC), Government of Telangana, while inaugurating Power Plant Summit 2016 organised as part of Energy Efficiency Summit 2016 highlighted that, the State is in the forefront in promoting energy management across the sectors. Government of Telangana has ensured 24x7 uninterrupted quality power to the stakeholders, he underlined.

Mr Arvind Kumar informed that the Government will soon establish Green Incubation Centre which is aimed at promoting green & clean technologies and entrepreneurs. He also said that, in days to come, with various projects including- setting up of industrial parks, lift irrigation projects coming up in the State, Government would work with various stakeholders to meet the growing energy requirements. Government would also focus on promoting renewable energy technologies, he highlighted.

Mr Sankar Bandyopadhyay, Executive Director (CenPEEP), NTPC Limited called on the need and importance to maintain & sustain performance of Power Plants. The need of the hour is to learn best practices & grow together, he added. He also said that the sector should focus on enhancing technology, practices, systems and tools in the Plants.

Mr K S Kasi Viswanathan, Managing Director, Seshasayee Papers and Boards Limited& Chairman, PaperTech 2016 in his address at the inaugural session of PaperTech 2016, underlined that efficient utilisation of depleting resources like energy and water is the need of the hour. Proactive thinking and making collective efforts is the way forward for finding innovative solutions to address ecological issues and concerns, he added. Going the green way will build competiveness of the sector he underlined.

Mr K N Rao, Director - Energy & Environment, ACC Cement Ltd, shared how Indian pulp & paper sector can adopt the success story adopted by cement sector in pursuing a low carbon roadmap .

The three-day event would focus on various trends, technological innovations, case studies, success stories on energy management happening across various sectors of Indian industry.
