Accelerating Indian Sugar Industry the 'Green' Way
CII Green Sugar Summit - "Making Indian Sugar World Class"

Addressing the delegates at the second CII Green Sugar Summit, Mr. Gaurav Goel, Chairman, Green Sugar Summit 2014 & Managing Director, Dhampur Sugar Mills Limited, highlighted how gratifying the past few years sharing & learning experience has been in the sector.

He also threw light on how stakeholders can help develop global green thought-leaders in the sector and how Sugar industry will see much progress in the near future with minimizing the usage of resources. Going the green way not only addresses ecological issues and concerns but also makes good business sense, he underlined.

Mr. G Venkateswara Rao, Chief Operating Officer, KCP Sugar and industries Corporation Ltd., said, the sugar industry has immense power to change the economic status of the nation, with CII playing a vital role by acting as a catalyst between Government and industries?, he added.

Mr. D Mathiyalagan, Sr. Vice president - Sugar & Cogeneration, Rajshree Sugars and Chemical Limited, said that the sugar industry over the past few years has developed immensely by increase in efficiency. Addressing the delegates, he highlighted the great networking opportunity the summit is providing, which will help like-minded people gather on a single platform leading to ecologically superior and economically viable options for sugar industry.

The inaugural session was also marked by the release of Best Practice Manual - Sugar industry and GreenCo Rating System for Sugar Sector.

Mr. K S Venkatagiri, Deputy Executive Director, CII - Godrej GBC highlighted how the CII started with coordinating with cement industry and then moved to paper, power and sugar providing opportunity for new technology to come in, also said CII initiated awards for sugar industry practices and welcomed factories from various places to send in their names and practices.
