'Bhutan -Ideal Destination for Investment'

CII proposes Centre of Excellence on Green Business in Bhutan
H. E. Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bhutan, today invited Indian industry to invest in Bhutan and explore the country's potential.

Interacting with the industry members, the Prime Minister of Bhutan pointed out that Bhutan has good working environment & quality workforce and Indian industry can build upon this foundation. India and Bhutan can work hand-in-hand and establish offices to ensure a secured back-up, added the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister was also keen to work closely with India in promoting IT sector in the country and make steady strides in the sector.

H. E. Tobgay highlighted that Bhutan has abundant energy resources and has immense potential to develop alternative sources of energy. This is a profitable proposition, added the Prime Minister.

Dr B V R Mohan Reddy, Past Chairman, CII - Southern Region highlighted that the city of Hyderabad has grown phenomenally in the last decade due to the entrepreneurship led initiatives.

Dr Reddy said that Hyderabad is the best place to source, network and explore business opportunities, as one can find entrepreneurs in all the sectors including Infrastructure, IT, Tourism, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, etc., at one place. CII would be happy to share its success stories with Bhutan and work closely in facilitating a win-win situation for both the countries, he said.

Dr Reddy suggested that the Government of Bhutan should set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Green Business. In this regard, CII would be pleased to facilitate and handhold the CoE, he added.

Mr S Raghupathy, Executive Director, CII-Godrej GBC underlined that the potential areas of cooperation between India and Bhutan could be in energy efficiency, green buildings and waste management. CII would be pleased to handhold Bhutan in green building movement & certification, green building materials & entrepreneurship, energy efficiency phytoremediation, waste segregation & composting, he added.

Mr Suresh Chitturi, Vice Chairman - CII Andhra Pradesh in his address said that the visit of the Prime Minister of Bhutan was a great start for CII to work more closely with Bhutan. Forging international collaborations, sharing of best practices, Missions is the need of the hour, he added.

Earlier, the Hon'ble Prime Minister and the high-level Government delegation was escorted on green building tour. The day was also marked by planting of sapling in the campus.
