CII- Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has partnered with Toshiba to launch "Bat for the Planet," a new program designed to promote eco-consciousness among school-going children, while also providing a platform for students to explore their creativity.

Through Bat for the Planet, more than 11,000 children from class 6 to 10 across 41 schools in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) participated in a painting competition, creating works illustrating environmental stewardship, energy efficiency or greenhouse gases and climate change. The four best paintings from each school were selected and a committee of eminent educators and artists selected one winning entry from each school. The winners were recognized by Mr Sachin Tendulkar, renowned cricketer and environmental steward, at an awards ceremony in Delhi NCR on July 26 2013.

Mr Sachin Tendulkar in his address said that "We should save our natural resources by taking small steps on our behalf because the change cannot happen overnight. As we keep ourselves healthy, we should keep our earth healthy. In the dressing room after a good performance on the field, we are asked to double up the good performance likewise we should double up our efforts to save environment"

The day was also marked by a special session on Sustainable Solution Summit, where Mr Sachin Tendulkar, Dr Prem C Jain, ,Ar Karan Grover, Ar Vidur Bhardwaj and other experts shared their thoughts and perspectives on the subject.
