A major impetus to Energy Conservation Movement in the country
CII felicitates India's 'Excellent Energy Efficient Industrial Units'

  • Over 165 companies have applied for the 13thNational Award for Excellence in Energy Management-2012
  • Total annual saving achieved: Rs 849 Crores
  • Implemented 5,687 projects. This is equivalent to 235MW Savings

In its effort to recognise and award "excellence in energy management, facilitate sharing of best practices, raise performance standards and establish futurity by pinpointing Carbon Emission Reduction (CDM/VER Project) initiatives, CII annually organises the National Award for Excellence in Energy Management.

Dr Ajay Mathur, Former Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency presented 26 companies with the "Excellent Energy Efficient Unit" and 25 units as "Energy Efficient Units" Four products were also awarded as Most Innovative Energy Saving Product / Service Award and three as Innovative Energy Saving Product / Service Award at the 13th CII- National Award for Excellence in Energy Management-2012.

Filled-in questionnaires were received from 166 companies and based on duly filled- in questionnaire by the companies; a panel of Judges has short listed 51 companies. The short-listed companies presented their projects over the last two days at the National Award for Excellence in Energy Management- 2012 Participation was from all the four regions of the country and was a good mix of various sectors ?? automobile, cement, chemical, engineering, fertiliser, metals, paper, petrochemical, pharma, power plant, refinery, sugar and building. All the major sectors have performed excellently and made consistent reduction in energy consumption.

Further from the participating companies, five companies were awarded with "Most Useful Presentation". Under this category, companies were selected by the participants. 5 companies were awarded with "Most Innovative Project" Award by the Judges.

Earlier, questionnaires were invited from industries with an annual energy bill of more than Rs 2.5 Crore per annum OR with a Maximum Energy Demand of 500 kVA and above.

This year the focus was on how close the company is to global best in SEC, innovations in projects implemented, reduction in SEC in last 3 years, energy saving projects implemented in last 3 years, amongst other criteria.
