Indian Green Building Council

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC),part of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the Council is to usher in a green buildingmovement in India and facilitate India to become one of the global leaders in green buildings by 2015.

The Council offers services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings.

The Council is committee-based, memberdriven and consensus-focused. All the stakeholders of construction industry comprising of architects, developers, product manufacturers, corporate, consultants, government, academia and nodal agencies participate in the Council activities through local chapters.

Mission on Sustainable Growth

The core purpose of the Mission is to "promote and champion conservation of natural resources in Indian Industry without compromising on high and accelerated growth".

CII - Code for Ecologically Sustainable Business Growth

The CII - Code for Ecologically Sustainable Business Growth was developed aiming to involve the top management of companies and seek voluntary commitments towards reducing the consumption of energy, water and other natural resources and promote ecologically sustainable growth in their companies.

New Ventures India (NVI) is a centre of sustainable entrepreneurship, specially designed to meet the needs of Indian sustainable entrepreneurs and help them overcome common business challenges to deliver environmental and social benefits as well as economic development and opportunity.

New Ventures India is a joint initiative of the CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, Hyderabad and the World Resources Institute, Washington DC. This initiative is supported by USAID under the Global Development Alliance mechanism and British High Commission under the Strategic Programme Fund.

Water Management Council was constituted to facilitate Industries, commercial establishment and buildings achieve excellence in water management.

The vision of the Water Management Council is to guide Indian industry towards industrial self-sufficiency in water, ultimately leading to "Zero Water Discharge".

Environment & Recycling Council

The Environment and Recycling Council of CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre will champion sustainable development. The long term objective of the council is to establish a recycling industry in India.

Renewable Energy Council

The Renewable Energy Council facilitates the wider adoption of renewable energy and attracts corporate investment in the sector.

The Council is represented by key stakeholders in renewable energy sector including technology providers, State and Central Government, corporate, financial institutions, etc.

The Renewable Energy Council envisions that India will be a global leader in renewable energy sector by 2012
